John Barrard (born 12th September 1924 in Cape Town, South Africa; died 13th October 2013 in Barnet, London) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in January 1972 as Harry Mascall, a regular drinker at The Red Lion hotel; and he returned to the programme in July 1974 as Sidney Wilson, a good friend of Norma Ford.

Prior to these roles he appeared in A Sheik in the Night, an episode of the Street spin-off Pardon the Expression, transmitted in April 1966.

His other television credits included roles in Nom-de-Plume, Boyd Q.C., Charlesworth, Romano the Peasant, Bonehead, Studio 4, Z Cars, Doctor Who, Mike, Crossroads, Life with Cooper, Here Come the Double Deckers!, The Fenn Street Gang, Last of the Summer Wine, Metal Mickey, Whoops Apocalypse, Diamonds, The Witches and the Grinnygog, All in Good Faith, We'll Think of Something, Never the Twain, The Bill, Jeeves and Wooster and Sean's Show.

Film roles include The Man Who Knew Too Much, Peeping Tom, There Was a Crooked Man, The Wrong Arm of the Law, Tales from the Crypt, King David, Buster and Swinging with the Finkels.

On stage, he appeared in productions of The Hamlet of Stepney Green, The Crooked Mile, The Tenth Man, The Giveaway and The Charlie Chaplin Story.
