John Hugh Franklyn-Robbins (born 14th December 1924 in Cheltenham, died 21st March 2009 in London) appeared on Coronation Street in September 1975 as foundry worker Brian Collett, who met Mavis Riley through a computer dating agency.

He graduated from RADA in 1949.

His other television credits included roles in The Villains, Z Cars, The Newcomers, Christ Recrucified, Ivanhoe, Jude the Obscure, The Onedin Line, The Shadow of the Tower, Softly Softly: Task Force, Crown Court, The Further Adventures of Oliver Twist, The Black Tower and All Passion Spent.

Film roles included The Pumpkin Eater, Dracula A.D. 1972, Asylum, Swallows and Amazons, The Brute, The Plague Dogs, Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde, Emma, Mrs Dalloway, Vanity Fair and The Golden Compass.

On stage, he appeared in productions of A Doll's House, Titus Andronicus, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, All's Well That Ends Well and Troilus and Cressida for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other works include The Man, The Tempest, Sleuth, The Lady from the Sea, The Apple Cart, Bussy D'Ambois, Coriolanus, Julius Caesar, The Last Confession and a Bill Kenwright production of The Night of the Iguana.
