John Henshaw appeared in Coronation Street in December 1996 as Irish musician Mick Murphy and in the spin-off DVD Romanian Holiday as the loutish Glen.

Born in Ancoats, Manchester in 1951, Henshaw was a binman who decided to become an actor the the age of 40. His first television role was in G.B.H. and this has been followed up by a string of high-profile parts in programmes such as The Royle Family, The Cops, Early Doors, Born and Bred, Life on Mars and the films Looking for Eric and Going Postal.

Henshaw is chairman of the 24:7 Theatre Festival, an annual festival of new writing for theatre based in Manchester.
