John Judd (born "John R. Williams" on 23rd February 1947) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in June 1977 as Doctor Cannon, who attended Ena Sharples; and he returned to the programme in August 1982 as bookmaker Sammy Chadwick.

His other television credits include roles in Space: 1999, Rooms, The Fuzz, The Professionals, Accident, The Chinese Detective, Minder, Angels, One by One, Jossy's Giants, Boogie Outlaws, The Bill, Devices and Desires, The Tomorrow People and The Prince and the Pauper. He also played the part of Blind Pew in the TV musical version of Treasure Island which won a Tony.

Film roles include A Bridge Too Far, That Summer, The Oddjob and The Appointment, although he is best known for the role of Mr Sands in the much acclaimed 1979 film Scum.

On stage, he appeared in a 1979 production of Privates On Parade.

He is married to the singer Helen Shapiro.
