Kate Brown (born in Manchester) appeared on Coronation Street in July 1966 as a confused housewife, approached by the clownish Jed Stone during a menfolk's trip to Liverpool for a World Cup football group match.

This was one of many television parts she played in the 1960s and 1970s including several roles in Z Cars and Dixon of Dock Green, as well as regular appearances in Now, Take My Wife, The Chinese Puzzle and Last of the Summer Wine, along with one-off parts in Crossroads, Softly, Softly, Get Some In, Are You Being Served? and Angels.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Cause Célèbre, Wendell Ash was Here, Round the Horne... Revisited, Hay Fever and The Importance of Being Earnest.

She gave up acting when she moved to the United States of America in 1976 but has since returned to the UK and the profession.
