Kynaston Reeves was born as Philip Arthur Reeves in London on 29th May 1893 and died on 10th December 1971. "Kynaston" was his mother's maiden name which he appropriated for his acting pseudonym from 1931 onwards.
In a long career which lasted for some fifty years he specialised in authority figure roles such as judges or titled people. He remains probably best known for his appearances in The Forsyte Saga (1967) as Nicholas Forsyte but he also appeared in series such as The Avengers. His movies include The Winslow Boy and The Mudlark.
He appeared in The Old One-Two, a first-season episode of the Coronation Street spin-off Pardon the Expression as Sir Charles Dobson, the chairman of Dobson and Hawkes (John Le Mesurier played the character during the second season).
