Larchfield Young Offenders Institute is a prison for underage offenders. In April 2008, David Platt was sentenced to four months in the institute for criminal damage, after going on a rampage along Coronation Street with a small pole, as well as assaulting Ken Barlow. While serving his sentence, he shared a room with Graeme Proctor who was imprisoned for arson. David was subsequently released in June of that year, and Graeme in November.

In October 2016, Clayton Hibbs was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for the murder of Kylie Platt, and remained in the institute until January 2019 after which he was transferred to Highfield Prison. In April of the following year, Seb Franklin was given a four-month custodial sentence for assaulting Jackson Hodge.
