Lawrence James (born 7th April 1927 in Birmingham, died 21st February 1986 in Lambeth, London) appeared on Coronation Street in June 1962 as Colin Appleby, who married Christine Hardman.
He appeared in the regular role of Doug Beatty in over two-hundred episodes of Compact from 1963 to 1965 and as Perry Briggs in more than thirty episodes of Crossroads in 1967. Other credits include roles in The Grove Family, The Sky Larks, The Men from Room 13, Z Cars, The First Lady, Thriller and The Sweeney.
Stage productions include roles in Acacia Avenue, Night of the Fourth, You Prove It, Convolvulus and French Without Tears.
