Leslie Duxbury (13th June, 1926 - 17th October, 2005) was one of the major writers for Coronation Street, scripting 415 episodes from April 1966 until his retirement in November 1991 (two of them co-written). He had first joined the programme at the start of 1966 as a storyliner in the first of six stints in the role:

Finally, he was the programme's script editor for Episode 1415 (7th August 1974) and for a near-continuous run from Episode 1426 (16th September 1974) to Episode 1902 (11th April 1979).

Among Duxbury's many achievements was writing the Christmas Day 1987 episode of Coronation Street, in which a record 26 million viewers saw Hilda Ogden leave the Street.
