Lynda Baron (born 24th March 1939) is an English actress of television success. During her career she has appeared in hit TV shows such as Doctor Who, Last Of The Summer Wine and Fat Friends.

She is best known however for her role as Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the classic sitcom Open All Hours a role she played for nine years from 1976 to 1985 and reprised the role again for Still Open All Hours from 2013 to the present day.

From 1993 to 1997 she entertained a much younger audience in the BBC children's programme Come Outside.

Lynda's time in Coronation Street occurred in December 1997 when she was cast in the role of Renee Turnbull, a woman who signed up to Alec Gilroy's Golden Years Agency, a role she played for two episodes.

In 2010, Lynda would make a welcome return to Weatherfield when she was cast in the BBC4 drama The Road to Coronation Street as Corrie legend Violet Carson.
