Lytham St Annes is a seaside town on the Fylde coast in Lancashire, England. The town has a population of approximately 43,000.

Ena Sharples occasionally went and stayed in St Annes throughout the late-1960s and 1970s, but always ended up returning to her home town of Weatherfield. In April 1980, Ena moved to St Annes to stay with her friend Henry Foster. Although initially a temporary move while her flat at the Community Centre was refurbished, Ena ultimately moved to St Annes permanently.

In 1993, after a day trip (and an impromptu overnight stay) Alf and Audrey Roberts made plans to retire to St Annes, selling the Corner Shop, and placed an offer on a bungalow. However, after Alf discovered a golf club full of retired grocers, Audrey's doubts about the move grew and they decided to remain in Weatherfield.
