Madison Hampson was the sixth child actress to play Amy Barlow in Coronation Street, taking on the role in September 2005. She replaced Louisa Morris who had made her final appearance in the same month.
Hampson appeared in the role until February 2006. In the following month, reports appeared in the papers, denied by Granada, that the youngster found the scenes in which she was involved between onscreen mum Tracy Barlow and her lover, Charlie Stubbs, to be "too harrowing" and was taken out of the show when her contract ran out. She was replaced in the role by Amber Chadwick in March 2006.
