Marie Hopps appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as pensioner Lottie in March 1961 having appeared as an extra in the Rovers snug on occasion from Episode 7 onwards; and she returned to the programme as Amy in June 1962. She also appeared in various series for Granada Television including The Younger Generation, The Victorians, Maupassant and their 1960 adaptation of Kipps which was directed by Stuart Latham and which was transmitted from October to December 1960 in the Friday 7.00pm timeslot in the spot in the schedules which would be occupied by Coronation Street from 9th December.

She also appeared in Emergency-Ward 10 and the 1967 film Far from the Madding Crowd.
