Mark McKillop is a freelance director who worked for many years at Yorkshire Television on programmes such as Heartbeat (where he was a camera operator prior to being a director) and Emmerdale Farm. He directed 5 episodes of Coronation Street in 2007 after he won the chance to work on Granada drama productions as part of a talent initiative put forward by the company in 2004 whereby the winners would be mentored for a year by an experienced director with a view to working on Coronation Street and Emmerdale. The other winning candidates who eventually worked on the programme were Dayle Evans-Kar, Sean Crotty, Pip Banyard and Neil Alderton.
