Mary Tamm (22nd March 1950 - 26th July 2012) appeared on Coronation Street in December 1973 as Polly Ogden, wife of Trevor and daughter-in-law of Stan and Hilda Ogden. She returned to the programme in October 2002 as Diana Black, who re-homed her late-mother's Shih Tzu dog, Mr Woo with Rita Sullivan.
Born in Bradford to Estonian immigrant parents, she attended Bradford Girls' Grammar School and graduated from RADA in 1971. Her autobiography First Generation was published in September 2009 and prior to her death, she had been working on the second part, Second Generation, which was published in 2014.
Her long list of credits include roles in Hunter's Walk, A Raging Calm, Return of the Saint, Doctor Who, Jane Eyre, Bergerac, Casualty, Brookside, Heartbeat, The Bill, Paradise Heights, Doctors, Wire in the Blood and EastEnders.
