Matthew Booth appeared on Coronation Street in September 2002 as Weatherfield Gazette journalist Matt Broughall.

As a youngster he auditioned and won a part with the National Youth Theatre. Educated at Normanton High School he went to college in Pontefract and from there auditioned for drama school where he won a place - but at too high a cost and worked as a garage mechanic. Some time later he auditioned and was offered a small part with Northern Broadsides. A lifelong fan of Manchester United, he also appeared in a Vodafone commercial with David Beckham.

His other credits include roles in Emmerdale, At Home with the Braithwaites, The Royal, The Ward and Hollyoaks, while on stage he has appeared in productions of Wrestling Mad, Beef, Jack and the Beanstalk, Me and Me Dad, My Favourite Summer, Our House, King John, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Found, Lost, Teechers and Royal Flush.
