Michael Cochrane (born 19th May 1947 in Brighton) appeared on Coronation Street in January 1998 as author Bob Fay. The launch of his new publication was disrupted by his wife Viv, accompanied at the event by escort Ken Barlow.

With a long list of credits dating back to the early 1970s, he has portrayed roles in Warship, Love Thy Neighbour, Wings, Shelley, The Citadel, Strangers and Brothers, The Detective, Doctor Who, No Job for a Lady, Keeping Up Appearances, The Chief, Wycliffe, Big Bad World, A Touch of Frost, Spooks, Wire in the Blood, Heartbeat, The Bill, Doctors, Downton Abbey and The Musketeers.

On stage he has appeared in productions of Ring Round the Moon, The Man Who Came to Dinner, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Merchant of Venice, Pride and Prejudice, On Approval and Beyond a Joke.

He is the younger brother of actor Martin Cochrane, who also appeared on the programme as solicitor Stuart Boswell in December 1996.
