Michael Lawson Sheard (born 18th June 1940, died 31st August 2005) appeared on Coronation Street two roles: firstly, as Richard Matthews in January 1969 and he returned to the programme in March and April 1989 as Arthur Dabner, a colleague of Derek Wilton who struck up a friendship with Emily Bishop.
His appearance on the Street came off the back of a four-year stint in his most famous role of Latin teacher Maurice Bronson in children's TV drama Grange Hill.

He died from cancer at his home on the Isle of Wight in 2005.
