Mr Stowe was a prospective buyer for the Corner Shop, sent by the estate agent, who was shown around by Fred Elliott in the absence of Maud Grimes. Fred introduced himself to Mr Stowe as the owner's husband and pointed out all of the shop's short-comings which scared the buyer off.
