In April 1969 she joined Ena's group of pensioners in protesting outside Weatherfield Town Hall at the proposed closure of an OAP Clubhouse in favour of a new car park. In April 1970 Mrs Toft and her friend, Miss Merryfield, were quick to spot Minnie and her new "gentleman friend" Handel Gartside in the Peel Street Tea House leaving Minnie concerned that they would be the subject of gossip.
Later in 1972 Mrs Toft helped Hilda Ogden track down her husband Stan by informing her that she saw him on Inkerman Street. In late 1973 Annie Walker organised a draw to win a free holiday to Wales. The names pulled out of the tin was Minnie and Mrs Toft but Albert Tatlock demanded that the tickets are checked to make sure his was present but it was soon revealed that his weren't. The draw was declared invalid and took place again. During the second time around, Mrs Toft won again, so did Ena and Albert but Minnie lost out.
