Neville Smith (born January 1940 in Liverpool) appeared in two roles in Coronation Street: a young workman who emptied Martha Longhurst's house in May 1964; and he returned to the programme a van driver who helped move Ena Sharples out of the Vestry in January 1968.

He also appeared in The Odd Man, The Plane Makers, Doctor Who, Emergency-Ward 10, Softly, Softly, eight separate productions of The Wednesday Play, Z Cars, Play for Today and The Comic Strip Presents.... Film roles include Billy Liar and Gumshoe.

He turned his hand to writing in the late 1960s and with the assistance of ITN newscaster Gordon Honeycombe, wrote his first television play, The Golden Vision. Further plays include editions of The Wednesday Play, ITV Sunday Night Theatre, Gumshoe, Play for Today and The World Cup: A Captain's Tale, some of which he also acted in.
