Nicola Sanderson appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in October 2000 as Claire Connell, whose husband Ray was a member of the police's armed response team; and she returned to the programme in May 2012 as CAFCASS officer Rachel Godfrey who was assigned to Simon Barlow's custody case.
Originally studying English, History and Psychology at Hereford Sixth Form College, she continued into higher education and studied Drama at Manchester University. After graduating, she moved to London and worked backstage for the Royal Shakespeare Company before completing a PGCE at Goldsmiths. Along with three other course members, they set up a company and went on to write and perform in fringe theatre. Following the success of one of these shows, she landed her first TV role and cast in a National Theatre production.
TV credits include roles in Peak Practice, The Governor, Casualty, Touching Evil, City Central, The Bill, EastEnders, Holby City and Law & Order: UK.
