Norman Jones (16th June 1932 - 23rd April 2013) appeared in Coronation Street as Det Insp Brewster in July 1973 (as a Detective-Sergeant) and in January and March 1978 in the more senior position.

The son of a coal miner, he began in amateur dramatics and after working as a clerk he joined the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He made his television debut in 1962 and appeared in many series including Emergency-Ward 10, Crossroads, The Saint, Dixon of Dock Green, The Avengers, Softly Softly: Task Force, Public Eye, Doctor Who, South Riding, The Stars Look Down, Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years, Crown Court and Inspector Morse.

Film roles include parts in You Only Live Twice, Oh! What a Lovely War, The Mind of Mr. Soames and The Abominable Dr. Phibes.
