The Nurse at Victoria Hospital in Blackpool saw Bet Gilroy when she went there with a complaint in December 1989. Upon being seen, Bet admitted that it was really her friend Rita Fairclough who needed help, but lying was the only way for her to get Rita there. Due to recent events involving Alan Bradley, Rita had retreated to a time before she knew him in her mind.
The nurse was annoyed at Bet's deception and reminded her that it was a casualty department, but seeing how desperate Bet was, she agreed to take down some details and see what she could do. While Bet was filling out forms, Rita fled the hospital.
