PC Collins had dealings with three incidents involving several Coronation Street residents:
In October 2007, he and a male colleague attended the scene when David Platt had driven his car into the canal. The officers spoke to a man who was the only witness to the incident and were present when David's car was raised from the water.
He was also one of several officers called to Rosamund Street Medical Centre in August 2009 when Joe McIntyre, addicted to prescription drugs, went berserk in search of his next fix. Joe was arrested for burglary but released on bail to appear in court a week later.
Finally he investigated a crash in August 2013 in which a van driven by Nick Tilsley slewed across the road and into the path of an oncoming lorry. The incident occurred following the revelation that Nick slept had with David Platt's wife Kylie on Christmas Day, 2012. Returning back to Weatherfield in a Nick's Bistro's van, an angry David grabbed the steering wheel off Nick, causing the vehicle to spin out of control and stop in the middle of the road immediately before the accident. Nick was critically injured and the police investigated the van which had passed its MOT two weeks before. After finding out about Nick and Kylie's infidelity, David had conducted a vendetta against Nick and his business and Leanne Tilsley told PC Collins about the various incidents. He also questioned David himself who claimed not to remember much about the incident and said that the vendetta was just a run of bad luck for his brother. He later called at 8 Coronation Street to say that there were no faults with the vehicle, CID were to investigate the vendetta and two witnesses had come forward who were in oncoming traffic and had a front view of the van during the incident.
- The character was only named in his third appearance.
