The Paramedic was one of the emergency crews who were deployed to Coronation Street in December 2010 when it was rocked by an explosion from The Joinery bar, followed by a derailed tram from the wrecked viaduct. Just before the disaster, John Stape had attacked his hysterical stalker Charlotte Hoyle with a hammer, leaving her for dead in No. 5. After wife Fiz had gone into premature labour and given birth to their daughter Hope, John rushed back home and took advantage of the confusion to try and move Charlotte to the site of the disaster. He was spotted there by a Police Officer who suspected nothing and called for medical help. John was stunned to hear the paramedic say that Charlotte was still alive as she was put in an ambulance and taken to Weatherfield General.
In January 2015, he was one of the ambulance crew members who arrived at the scene of an accident. Steve McDonald was driving the minibus taking Carla Connor and the Underworld staff to an award ceremony at the Marbury Hall Hotel, but he lost control of the vehicle as it flipped off the road when he had to swerve to avoid ploughing into a car containing boy racers. The paramedics attended to the most severely injured who were all rushed to a nearby hospital on blue lights.
During the following July, Kylie Platt was stabbed in the chest by Clayton Hibbs when he tried to rob from the cash register inside Prima Doner Although she managed to stagger into Coronation Street from the premises at Victoria Street, the paramedics arrived just as Kylie fell unconscious, while being cradled by her husband David. She passed away minutes later at 5:57pm. David kissed her goodbye before the paramedics removed her body from the scene.
