Patrea Smallacombe (born 1961) is an accomplished Australian-born television writer and story editor. She wrote for numerous soap operas in her native Australia, such as Prisoner: Cell Block H, The Young Doctors and Neighbours before moving to the United Kingdom in 1987. She was actually writing and script editing for The Young Doctors in the 1970s as a teenager. She wrote for Coronation Street forty-nine times between April 1993 and September 1997 during which time she created the character of Norris Cole who she based on her father. She returned to the programme in 2006 penning a further eleven episodes making 60 in total. She has also penned episodes of Brookside, Emmerdale, Peak Practice, The Bill, Family Affairs and rival soap, EastEnders.

As from March 2011, Patrea began penning scripts for Channel 4's early evening soap, Hollyoaks.
