Paul Lally appeared in two roles in Coronation Street: in May 1975 he played the part of Stuart Bellshaw, an oil rig driller out on the town at the Gatsby Club with his colleague Maurice Gordon. He then played the role of Doctor Crawford who appeared in July and December 1980 and returned in October 1989.

He also appeared in other Granada series such as Crown Court, Send in the Girls, Strangers and Children's Ward.

He was married to Sheila Lally for fifty years, had three sons, Duncan Lally, Tom Lally and James Lally and lived in Otley for many years. He was a tour guide for numerous years.

Paul Lally died of a brain tumour on the 6th of October 2017. He was buried in Menston Cemetery on the 19th of October 2017.
