Philippa Howell appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in August 1991 as Annabelle Johnson, whose daughter Belinda was a friend of Victoria Arden; and she returned to the programme in March 1996 as the Magistrate who sentenced Jim McDonald to three weeks in Strangeways after breaking his bail conditions by harassing estranged wife Liz.

Her other credits include roles in Softly Softly: Task Force, Inspector Morse, Cracker, Band of Gold, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Heartbeat, Emmerdale and the films Cry of the Banshee and When Saturday Comes. On stage she has appeared in productions of The Land of the Dinosaurs, The Shaughraun and Shamrocks and Crocodiles.

She also founded Philippa Howell Personal Management, with offices in London and Sheffield.
