Phyllis Gregory was the first wife of Naval Officer Bill Gregory, the on-off lover of Elsie Tanner. In 1962, Phyllis was separated from Bill and went to see him in Weatherfield to beg for a reconciliation. Bill felt guilty and agreed to return to Scotland with her, but decided not to tell Phyllis about his relationship with Elsie.

In 1970, Bill returned to Weatherfield to see Elsie and told her that Phyllis was dead.

Mary Quinn only appeared in one episode as Phyllis Gregory, but she also received a credit in Episode 957 (25th February 1970), which featured a clip of the 1962 episode she appeared in.
