Ralph Frankland was a barber located near to Coronation Street. When he cut butcher Harold Dewhurst's hair he chatted to him about horses and the racing form. A day later, when he cut Councillor Len Fairclough’s hair he complained of the number of the potholes in the road and proffered his opinion that instead of a council with all its red tape, it would be better to have a dictatorship. Len good-humouredly countered that the first act of any dictator was to shoot all the barbers!
