Rani Moorthy appeared in Coronation Street in January 2002 as Doctor Kin who treated Les Battersby and Dennis Stringer after their car crash.
She was born in Malaysia but fled that country with her family in 1969 to escape the 13 May incident race riots. Moving to Singapore, she became an actress after studying at the National University of Singapore and then appeared in theatre. She moved to the UK in 1996 and has also appeared in Doctors and Citizen Khan as well as on stage in Pooja, Manchester United and the Malay Warrior and Too Close to Home.
