Ray Emmet Brown appeared in Coronation Street in February 2013 as DC Brooks. He was born in Manchester in 1968 and was interested in acting from an early age. He joined a theatre group in his home city at the age of 10, going to the Guildhall School of Drama in London after finishing his formal education. His television roles include a lead regular role in Outlaws for which he was nominated in the best newcomer category in the Screen Nation Awards and also parts in Emmerdale, G.B.H., A Touch of Frost, Prime Suspect 5,The Bill, and Casualty. His theatre roles include roles in Moon on a Rainbow Shawl, A Raisin in the Sun, Alice in the Walled Garden, Les Negres and Generations of the Dead in the Abyss of Coney Island Madness for which he won the Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role
In addition to his acting work, he has also qualified as a Barrister at Law (Non practising) from the Inns of Court School of Law and works as a duty Solicitor in between roles.
