Richard Doubleday (20th July 1924 - 16th January, 1975) began his career as an actor before he moved into television. He was a Coronation Street producer in 1968. He also directed for the programme in the 1960s with 14 episodes to his credit from November 1966 to November 1967. He later went on to win acclaim for producing A Family at War, work for London Weekend Television on Seven Faces of Woman and worked for the Glyndebourne opera.
