Sam Aston

Samuel David "Sam" Aston was born in Lancashire on 7th June 1993, and is the youngest of nine children. His talented older siblings include BAFTA-nominated actress Emily Aston who played Becky Palmer in Coronation Street from 1996 to 1997 and Joseph Aston who was one of the actors to play Tommy Duckworth.

He had his first professional engagement as an actor at the age of five as an extra in Eddie Mountain, and also appeared in a TV advert for Warburtons Bread in 2003. He had roles in The Bill and Where the Heart Is before first appearing in Coronation Street in Episode 5623 (10th November 2003) as Chesney Brown, the mischievous, deprived and sometimes manipulative younger half-brother of Fiz Brown and son of Cilla Brown, the "world's worst mother". Sam's hangdog yet cheeky looks combined with his assured performance soon gained him a legion of mothering fans and he won "Best Newcomer" award at the 2005 National Television Awards and Best Dramatic Performance for a Young Actor or Actress at the 2006 British Soap Awards.

He attended Haslingden High School until the age of sixteen, admitting the fact that he couldn't wait to leave. He has been learning how to play the guitar and has performed in a charity show with Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland) and admits that one of his most prized possessions is a Fender Telecaster guitar given to him by Status Quo when they appeared on the programme in 2005. His main hobby is golf, admitting that he is "a massive golf nut".

Sam married Briony Gardner, a yoga teacher, in May 2019. In August 2020 the pair welcomed a baby boy, named Sonny.
