Sam Aston was born on 7th July 1993 and is the youngest of nine children. His talented older siblings include BAFTA-nominated actress Emily Aston who played Becky Palmer in Coronation Street from 1996 to 1997 and Joseph Aston who was one of the actors to play Tommy Duckworth.
He had his first professional engagement as an actor at the age of five as an extra and also appeared in a bread commercial. Sam's hangdog and yet cheeky looks combined with his assured performance soon gained him a legion of mothering fans and he won "Best Newcomer" award at the 2005 National Television Awards and Best Dramatic Performance for a Young Actor or Actress at the 2006 British Soap Awards.
He continued his education at Haslingden High until the age of sixteen but dropped out then, admitting that he couldn't wait to leave. He has been learning to play the guitar and has performed in a charity show with Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland) and admits that one of his most prized possessions is a Fender Telecaster guitar given to him by Status Quo when they appeared on the programme in 2005. His main hobby is golf, admitting that he is "a massive golf nut".
