Sharon Unwin was the youngest daughter of Jimmy and Bev Unwin and sister of Shelley. Approximately four years younger than Shelley, Sharon had her fair share of illnesses but always fully recovered. At the beginning of March 2003, Sharon was rushed into hospital with severe stomach pains - the cause of which transpired to be a stomach ulcer. Although Sharon appeared to be on the mend over the course of the next few days, nurses found her collapsed in a hospital bathroom after the ulcer had perforated and she died from massive internal bleeding.
Peter Barlow drove Shelley to Bradford to attend the funeral.
