Shorrock's was a plumbing firm in Weatherfield that employed Joe Makinson in the early 1960s.
Before her untimely hospitalisation and death at the end of 1960, May Hardman of 13 Coronation Street had employed the firm for some work and the bill remained unpaid at the time of her passing. Joe was sent to collect the overdue sum of £1, 1/3 and was sympathetic to Christine Hardman's plight when she was unable to pay it. He took the bill away and sheepishly posted an envelope through her letterbox a few days later, which contained a receipt for payment. Christine questioned him and discovered that he'd paid the bill himself, thus starting a relationship between the two which ended up in an unsuccessful engagement.
- The firms name is pronounced as "Shorrock's in Episode 11 (13th January 1961) by Joe Makinson, and as "Sharrock's" by Christine Hardman in Episode 13 (20th January 1961).
