Sian Hammond was a consultant at Weatherfield General where an unconscious Claire Peacock was admitted following a house fire at 4 Coronation Street in May 2007. Suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation, the consultant advised her staff that an anaesthetist needed to be paged and a chest x-ray organised as she was worried about Claire's airway being compromised. She informed anxiously awaiting Eileen Grimshaw and Violet Wilson - who had accompanied Claire in the ambulance - that Claire had been transferred to the Intensive Care unit. The consultant was also at Claire's bedside along with Eileen and Violet when she regained consciousness.

Credited as "Consultant", the character's full name was given in dialogue.
