Simon Smithies (born 26th April 1965) is a Manchester-based actor who appeared in Coronation Street in three roles:
- An unnamed Builder in February & April 2008, and May 2016
- A Fire Officer in December 2010
- Fire Investigator George Blakeson in March 2013 and May 2015.
He also appeared in the 2011 internet episode Just Rosie.
Smithies graduated from the Manchester School of Acting in 2010 with an Advanced diploma in acting for screen. An experienced variety performer and compere, he was the lead singer for the touring show band "Shooter" for seven years and has also fronted The British Musical Fireworks Championships and The Sefton Prestige Awards.
His other TV and film credits include roles in Baby Blues, Crust, Accused, Trollied, Shameless, Appropriate Adult, Hollyoaks, Scott & Bailey and DCI Banks.
