Skinner's Bookies was the first betting shop to open at 19 Rosamund Street. Named after owner Sean Skinner, it occupied the site from 1994 to 2001.

Although Skinner left Weatherfield in 1997, he hung onto the business which finally went up for sale in September 2001. An offer of £42,000 had already been submitted by Rob Lucas, who was installed as manager of the betting shop at that time, but clerk Peter Barlow was able to offer £43,000 after stealing Rob's £5,000 deposit from the office safe and enlisted the help of Steve McDonald to place a series of bets which netted a total of £50,000. Peter's offer was quickly accepted by Skinner, and the business was renamed "Barlow's Bookies" in October.
