Steve Elder (born in Rotherham) appeared on Coronation Street in September and October 1998 as DI Fox, investigating the extortion attempts on Freshco.

Educated at the Valley Comprehensive School in Worksop, he went on to study at the University Of London and the Webber Douglas Academy Of Dramatic Art.

His other credits include roles in Stages, Peak Practice, Waking the Dead, EastEnders, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Monarch of the Glen, Judge John Deed, Heartbeat, Casualty, The Bill, Lost, Holby City, Upstairs Downstairs, Bedlam, Doctors, Our Girl, Silent Witness and the films Get Real, Vanity Fair, The Defender, Cold and Dark, Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God, Good, Echelon Conspiracy, Tortoise in Love, Gallowwalkers, United Passions and Skin Trade.

On stage he has appeared in productions of Whispers Along The Patio, All in the Wrong, Clockwatching, Tosca's Kiss, The Ring of Truth, The Daughter-In-Law, How to Be Happy, Through the Night, Land of Morning Calm, Yours for the Asking and Romeo and Juliet.
