Steve Garti (born Steve Gartside in Doncaster) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly appearing as Sean Swift, the leader of the group of men tasked with tarmacking over the cobbles of the Street in December 2000. He returned to the programme as an Officer employed at Redford Prison where both Tracy Barlow and Gail McIntyre were incarcerated during May 2010.
As a four-year-old he began modelling schoolwear for television advertisements and shortly afterwards landed a small role in Follyfoot Farm, however a serious car accident put paid to any more acting work and went round in bands as a drummer. In the early 1990s the desire to act returned and supported himself peeling potatoes in a chip shop and working as a chef in between auditions.
Upon his successful return to the profession, his credits include roles in Cardiac Arrest, City Central, The Cops, Dalziel and Pascoe, Stig of the Dump, Playing the Field, Spooks, Clocking Off, Emmerdale, The Royal, Doctors, Casualty, Life on Mars, Shameless, Trollied, Prisoners Wives, Mount Pleasant and Scott & Bailey, as well as appearing in the feature films The Full Monty, Millions and Mischief Night.
