Suranne Jones was born Sarah Anne Jones on 2nd January, 1979 in Oldham. She is an English actress who played Karen McDonald in Coronation Street between 2000 and 2004 after first appearing as Mandy Phillips in Episode 4182 (23rd April 1997).

She has subsequently achieved success in a number of high profile television drama roles including Beth in the detective series Vincent alongside Ray Winstone, Linda Nelson in Strictly Confidential, Dr Martha Elliott in Harley Street, Mona Lisa in the Sarah Jane Adventures and DC Laurie Franklin in Five Days.
