I don't agree that characters going into the sidelines for a month or two warrant notes like the notes on this page. I think they should only be added when actors take an announced break/departure. Thoughts? Notdoppler (talk) 20:45, October 29, 2012 (UTC)

- I think big absences are notable, but the cut-off should be more than two/three months. Some of the notes could do with more explanation too. David (talk) 22:40, October 31, 2012 (UTC)
- Having done so may "Full list of appearances" pages recently, there are a surprising number of instances in the 2000s and 2010s where characters are just off screen for several months with no apparant reason in the storyline and no reasons for such in real life despite the attentions of our ever-vigilent press. I think that nowadays, a lot of the actors work solidly for several months on the show and then go off for several months rest. Exceptions seem to be the characters who the writers love (Becky, for instance) and Rovers staff and the like. It's not like in 1969/70 when Lucille disappered for several months on mat leave or in the early 1960s when there were large gaps between Arthur Lowe's appearances as he liked doing stage work.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 09:14, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
- In this particular case, Aadi and Asha are children and as we know children appear far less anyway, so I don't think notes are necessary. With Amber, I'm not sure but I don't think the writers knew what to do with the character at this point, leading to long absences and eventually to her departure from the show. - I think absences should only be noted if the actor is taking time off/illness/doing a film/some other reason, if it's a few months absence coming off the back of a big storyline I would count this as part of the regular rotation of actors and therefore not notable (anyone interested can find out this information from their LoA page anyway).
