Tanya Pooley was a devilish Rovers barmaid who ran off with Bet Gilroy's partner Charlie Whelan in 1994.

Taking on by Bet after leaving The Queens, Tanya showed herself to be an intelligent woman but an insecure one who delighted in tearing people down. She first showed her nasty side when she set Raquel Wolstenhulme up with a fake modelling date, and went on to have an affair with Raquel's boyfriend Des Barnes while at the same time she was seeing Des's boss Alex Christie behind his wife Val's back.

When she was sacked by Bet over her bitchiness towards Raquel, Tanya set her sights on Bet's man Charlie and went off to Hamburg with him. Once there it didn't take long for Tanya to abandon him too and, true to her nature, leave him to deal with the repercussions of the infidelity.
