1991: Ralph Dobson prepares for his meeting with Jackie Ingram
The Yew Tree Pub in Bolton Road was the location of a secret meeting between Ingram's Textiles owner Jackie Ingram and Ralph Dobson, the factory's former sales manager, in July 1991. Ralph requested the meeting when he called Jackie out of the blue nine months after resigning from Ingram's, and made sure to have it at a place where they wouldn't be disturbed by Jackie's fiancé Mike Baldwin. Jackie herself had never been in the pub before that day despite passing it several times.
Talking in a quiet corner of the pub during the daytime, Ralph informed Jackie that his textile company was interested in buying the ailing Ingram's. Jackie didn't give Ralph an answer straightaway, but agreed in time to deliver the news to Mike at their wedding reception later that week. Having married Jackie to get his hands on her factory, Mike was understandably horrified.
Stella Price ran the pub sometime prior to 2011 with her partner Karl Munro. Sharon Lomax was employed as a barmaid and engaged in an affair with Karl.
