Timothy Kightley appeared in Coronation Street as golf club steward Royston Bell, appearing first in September 1999 and returning in August 2000.

An actor since the early 1970s, he has appeared in many television series, including Arthur of the Britons, The Sweeney, Bless Me Father, Minder, Sleepers, Middlemarch and A Touch of Frost. He also appeared in the 1998 Oscar-winning film Shakespeare in Love.

On stage he has appeared in a range of Shakespearean roles as well as parts in Amadeus, The Madness of George III and Uncle Vanya. He played the part of Captain Mainwaring, created by Arthur Lowe, in a 1990s stage version of Dad's Army.
