[edit] Storylines

[edit] 2007—

[edit] Interest in Carla

Tony Gordon first appeared in September 2007, as a potential customer of Carla Connor, who toured him around her business, Underworld, but Tony seemed to take more of an interest in her than the factory.

Day's later, Tony turned up at the factory, inviting Carla to join him for a drink to discuss business, spotting them flirting, Liam, Carla's brother-in-law, became irritated, who, following this, speculated that she got over his deceased brother Paul quicky. Eventually, Tony asked Carla out on a date, and even invited Liam and Maria to have a drink with he and Carla, before going back to Carla's place with her. It later transpired that they spent the night together.

[edit] Arrival of Lindsey

Tony later made a business proposition, which Carla agreed to consider. Carla and Tony were soon to spend the night together again, much to Liam's jealousy. However, Lindsey Gordon arrived at the factory and warned Carla off Tony, claiming to be his wife. Carla then confronted Tony about Lindsey's accusations, who claimed that Tony was a veteran womaniser and a control freak.

Liam, meanwhile, continued to be incredulous about the situation, after Tony and Carla spent yet another night together. Liam commented on whether Lindsey knew about the relationship, Carla then explained that she has nothing to do with it.

[edit] Jealousy

As of Tony and Carla's continuous relationship, Liam got increasingly wound up, claiming he didn't feel comfetable doing business with Carla's partner. He then decided to discover more about Tony after Carla claimed that he had no right to comment on the relationship, and that it wouldn't affect the business.

During a meeting between the two, Liam spotted Tony's address written down, sneakily adding it to a PDA.

Following this, Liam continued to discover more and more information about Tony. Whilst stalking Tony, Liam was spotted by Lindsey who demanded answers from Liam, who claimed to be only checking up on Tony, with him being involved with both his business and family. Liam, with evidence he needed, paid Carla a visit, who then realised of Liam's jealousy.

Following a proposal by Liam to Maria, Carla turned down Tony's offer of another night together, claiming as to being not in the mood, and chose to speak to Liam instead, but changed her mind when Liam told her about his engagement to Maria, implying that Carla had feelings for Liam.

However, Liam appeared to continue with his jealous feelings after Carla and Tony seemed somewhat close.

Tony even sent Carla's staff Christmas shopping in order to spend lunch with her.

Liam became infuriated when Tony prepared supplies for the Christmas do, as he had planned to do it himself, with Carla refusing, and was even more angry when he noticed Tony and Carla canoodling.

Tony took Carla out for lunch after accident Liam had on a gorge, guessing that Carla was upset about the near-death accident as it was a reminder on what had happended to Paul.

Tony then began to become jealous when Carla claimed as being too busy to go to the pub, though he hid jealousy and reassured her that he'd wait until she was free.

Tony quizzed Carla as to why she was so eager to take Liam across the road, Carla then also accused him of being jealous, infuriating Tony.

Liam and Carla we're both clearly attracted to each other, and Carla suggested that he sleep with her, but Tony broke this moment, with Carla trying to hide her jealousy. Carla later believed that it was a good job that Tony broke her and Liam's moment.

[edit] Murdering Liam Connor

A while before Tony had Liam murdered, Tony quizzed Carla about her relationship with Liam and asked if there was ever anything in it. Carla admitted kissing Liam once, but it was just a kiss. Tony pretended to accept this since it was before he and Carla got together, but when Carla went into the bedroom to get ready for bed, he smashed a glass in the sink out of rage and jealousy. Carla and Liam eventually spent a night together when Tony was away in China on business for a while, and when Carla wasn't available to open the factory that morning having spent the night with Liam, Rosie went round to Carla's to get the keys. She saw Liam leaving after clearly spending the night with Carla and decided to video their kiss goodbye on her mobile phone. A few months later, Rosie tried to seduce Tony, and because he turned her down she decided to show him the video of Carla and Liam kissing to hurt him. Tony was blissfully unaware of Carla's infidelity and was planning their wedding so when he found out about it he was very hurt and angry. He decided to get revenge on Liam by having him killed. On Tony's stag night, Liam kept phoning Carla and sent her texts. Tony knew what he was up to. Tony had taken Liam's wallet and when Liam noticed it was missing, he thought he left it back at the pub. Tony said he should go back for it, and when Liam crossed the road, he fell into Tony's trap. Liam Connor was ran over by someone who Tony hired to kill him. Tony held Liam in his arms, then told him the best man lost. Later on, Tony went down to the canal at night, took Liam's money that was left in his wallet and threw his wallet into the canal. It later turned out the hitman was Tony's henchman Jimmy. Maria began to accuse Tony of having an involvement in Liam's death after she found out at Tony and Carla's wedding that Tony knew that Carla and Liam had spent the night together long before Liam was killed, and therefore easily could have planned it. Sally Webster, wanting to get her own back on Carla after Carla's remarks about her at the wedding, decided it would be a good idea to show Maria the video of Liam and Carla on Rosie's phone so Maria would realise that Liam wasn't all that after being upset that Liam was no longer around. Tony eventually convinced Maria that her accusations were false and were a result of grief and hormones. Seeing that Tony was genuinely sorry that Liam had died (obviously still not knowing that Tony had him killed and she was right all along) Maria and Tony have been growing closer and bonding with each other.

[edit] Menacing pensioner Jed Stone

Tony was planning on building flats on Nightingale Terrace, but a pensioner Jed Stone was refusing to move out of his home. Tony offered Jed money, but Jed refused. Tony later returned and barged into Jed's home. The stress caused Jed to have a heart attack. Tony packed Jed's things and told Jason and Tyronne to go ahead and board up the house. Tony offered Jed a cheque, but Jed told him to stuff it. Tony then threatened to lift a pillow to Jed's face.

[edit] Marriage to Carla

Carla had left the street to go to Los Angeles to see a friend to get over Liam's death. She returned in late November 2008 and proposed to him. The wedding took place on the 3rd December 2008. Carla also had another surprise, Tony's brother Pat. Tony didnt want Maria to see Pat, since he claimed they had a fallout, a way to get Liam to agree to be best man. Jed Stone was also back on the street when moving in with Emily, and Jed demanded money and promised to keep away from the wedding. Tony gave him the money and threatened him to stay away. Carla and Tony married. Sally had shown Maria the video on Rosie's phone of Tony and Carla snogging as mentioned above under Murdering Liam Connor, and Maria was shocked. Tony and Carla had left for their honeymoon before Maria could catch up with them. She then suspected Tony murdered Liam and went around accusing him for a few weeks, and also tried to run Tony over with Liam's car. Tony eventually convinced Maria that she was wrong although she was right.

[edit] Maria's accusions and Jed's money demands

Throughout half of December 2008, Maria had been accusing Tony of killing Liam. Jed teamed up with Maria when he believed Tony was a killer. Jed started demanding more money from Tony for evicting him from his home.

[edit] Attempted murder (Christmas 2008)

When getting ready at the factory for a party, Jed Stone turned up. He had spotted Tony with Jimmy together a few days earlier. When Tony accidently let Jimmy's name slip, Jed then threatened to go to the police. In anger, Tony strangled Jed with a present he got for Carla. When he thought Jed was dead, he hid him inside a christmas hamper which he used as a table for the party drinks. After the party, Tony returned on Christmas morning to get rid of the body. But he then found out Jed was still alive and was so relieved that he hadn't killed him after all. He tied Jed to a chair and taped his mouth. He gave Jed a choice, either Tony finish off what he started or move to a flat in Wigan, rent free. Jed took Tony's offer of going to Wigan unsurprisingly and Tony took him there in the Underworld van. Jed's disapearance caused Maria to be more suspicious of Tony. She attempted to run him down after he said he murdered Jed. He only suffered minor injuries but decided to do something to stop Maria's accusations by making her look very foolish in front of everyone. He brought Jed back to Coronation Street after Maria had claimed that Tony had killed Jed. Tony had deliberately told Maria that he had strangled Jed with a negligee and stuffed him in a knicker hamper because although it was true in every respect, it sounded ridiculous when the story was retold to everyone drinking in the Rovers by Maria wearing her pyjamas. This made Maria look crazy. Maria attacked Tony in anger, scratching his face, although after a few days she calmed down and decided that because she must have imagined him saying he had killed Jed Stone, she must have been wrong about the other accusations about Tony being responsible for Liam's death too.

She eventually apologised to Tony for the accusations she made.

[edit] Carla's suspicions

Carla had spotted Tony exchanging some harsh words with Jed when sending him back to Wigan after Jed's reappearance in the Rovers to make Maria look mad. She decided to go and see Jed and get some answers from him. When taking him out for a meal, she spotted the marks on Jed's neck from the strangulation a few weeks earlier. She questioned Tony about this, who claimed Jed attempted to hang himself. Angry, he phoned Jimmy and told him to sort Jed out. Jimmy threatened Jed to keep away from Carla. Carla got even more suspicious when she later found out that Jed suffered a heart attack and was in hospital just after she told Tony that she'd been to see him, she thought it was too much of a coincidence. She went to see Jimmy at his garage and Jimmy's silence told her everything she needed to know. Carla returned to the factory to find it deserted (apart from Tony lurking in the shadows). He locked the door and after a long while of exchanging some home truths on both sides, he later confessed that he had Liam killed. Shocked, Carla hugged Tony and said she was sorry for the things she said (telling him that she never loved him and Liam was better than him in every way etc) but she could never forgive him for what he did. She then kicks him in his jewels, unlocks the door and escapes out the factory. She gets into her car and Tony leaps on the bonnet of the car screaming "You cant leave me"! Carla speeds off into the night and Tony screams her name and is left crying uncontrollably in the pouring rain.

By coincidence, Maria, having apologised to Tony for her accusations previously, was out walking Ozzie the dog and happened to see Tony on his knees in the rain crying after Carla. She did nothing, looked shocked, and quietly walked on.

[edit] Relationship with Maria Connor

Tony formed a friendship with Liam's widow Maria. He confronted her while she was at Liam's grave, and told him that Carla had left him. Maria felt sorry for Tony and gave him a ride home when she was on her way back to Coronation Street. Tony began supporting her when she needed help when pregnant.

On 3rd July 2009, he helped Maria give birth to her baby, Liam Jr on a deserted beach. They then formed a serious relationship, much to the disproval of Liam's parents Helen and Barry.

On the 16th October 2009, one year after Tony had Liam murdered, Tony proposed to Maria by Liam's grave. She was happy and accepted, however while celebrating at her house and having champegne, Bary and Helen walked in and found out about the proposal.

What Tony doesnt know is that his ex-wife Carla has found out about his relationship with Maria, and has now recently contracted Leanne Battersby who is keeping an eye out on the latest news of him.
