Trevor Martin (born 17th November 1929 in Enfield, Middlesex; died 5th October 2017 in Sofia, Bulgaria) appeared in two roles on Coronation Street: in October 1966 he played Det Con Rogers who investigated Elsie Tanner's anonymous phone caller; and he returned to the programme between January and March 1984 as Ivy Tilsley's love-interest Arthur Whittaker.

He enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama following national service and was awarded the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award in 1953, which resulted in getting an early break with the BBC Radio Drama Company. After graduation, he helped set up the Guildhall Players theatre company.

He also appeared in Three Golden Nobles, The Splendid Spur, Z Cars, Orlando, Ramshackle Road, The Elusive Pimpernel, Angels, The Bill, Inspector Morse, Taggart, Heavenly Sword, Call the Midwife and Odd Squad, in addition to a long association with Doctor Who.

On stage, he appeared in numerous productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other works include Cul-de-Sac, Saint Joan, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, The Workhouse Donkey, Mrs Warren's Profession, The Government Inspector, The Oedipus Plays, Cymbeline, Conversations With My Father, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tragedy of Nan and also played the Doctor in the 1974 stage play - Dr Who and the Daleks - Seven Keys to Doomsday.
