Val Tagger played two roles on Coronation Street: in June 2001 she appeared as a Guest at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel in the Lake District where Alma Halliwell went for a final trip before she succumbed to cancer, and she returned to the programme in October 2020 as Doris Braithwaite, an elderly fan of Geoff Metcalfe's hospital radio show.

Her other credits include roles in Cold Feet, North Square, Heartbeat, Emmerdale, Where the Heart Is, Boy Meets Girl and Scott & Bailey, along with the TV movies Indian Dream and The Good Samaritan.

In January 2012 she played the part of Minnie Caldwell in three episodes of the programme adapted for public performance which were staged at the Lass O'Gowrie pub in Manchester under the umbrella title of 1968 Corrie by Jack Rosenthal.
